Board member needed for the Horizon Drive District
The Horizon Drive Business Improvement District invites applications from individuals interested in serving on the Board of Directors.
Appointments to the Horizon Drive District board are made by the City Council for a term of four (4) years. The time required is approximately five hours monthly. Monthly board meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Prospective board members must own or lease property or be an owner or lessee within the District’s designated representative. For more details on the District and its’ mission, see What We Do.
Sandra Zoldowski - Executive Director
Sandra was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a B.S in Business Administration and emphasis in Marketing.
Sandra arrived in Grand Junction 8 1/2 years ago after being in Billings, Montana for 27 years. While in Billings, Sandra worked for the International Office of Kampgrounds of America (KOA, Inc) for over 16 years.
Sandra’s next career move was to broadcast media, where she spent 18 years. The last 8 years was in Grand Junction building a successful team at KREX News Channel 5. During her tenure, she was appointed to the Colorado Broadcasting Association Board, and elected Chairwoman for two terms.
Sandra serves on the Museums of the West Board, is on Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour committee, and a Rotary Club of Grand Junction member and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Sharah Russell - President
Sharah is a native of Grand Junction and Colorado Mesa Alumni. She began her hospitality career in 2006 as Sales Manager on the opening team for the first Marriott hotels in Grand Junction, the Courtyard and Residence Inn on Horizon Drive. She then moved into a Director of Sales role in 2008 and was awarded Sales Leader of the year in 2009. In 2010 she started her journey as a General Manager at the Residence Inn by Marriott and then was promoted to General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in 2014 and is celebrating 15 years with the company in 2021. She enjoys spending time with her 3 boys and her husband on their ranches in Loma, CO and in Gunnison, CO, sports, horseback riding, and boating. She is excited to be on this board and is looking forward to assisting with ensuring Horizon Drive is welcoming to guests and residents as the first impression of Grand Junction.

Brian Burford - Vice President
Brian is a lifelong resident of the Grand Valley, a Colorado Mesa Alumni, and a Master Automotive Service Excellence ®️ Certified Technician with nearly 20 years of trade experience. He began employment at Zarlingo’s Automotive on Horizon Drive in 2006, acquiring the business in 2011. Brian is invested in the future of Horizon Drive not only as a business owner but also a member of the IntelliTec Advisory Committee, where he reviews and advises on curriculum, in hopes well educated and qualified workers remain local. He enjoys recreating with friends and family, DIY projects, and all that Western Colorado and Eastern Utah have to offer.

Cameron Reece - Director
Cameron was born in Grand Junction and operated the family business that his dad started in 1986 called Crossroads Fitness for many years. Crossroads has 2 locations with the main one being right off Horizon Dr. He graduated from Mesa State College with a undergraduate degree in business management and has been community involved his whole life and knows how important the Horizon Drive District is in being the gateway to Grand Junction.

Kevin Harrison - Director
Kevin is a native of Missouri and began his insurance career in 1982 as an adjuster for a national firm. From 1985 through 2010, he was an owner in a family-owned Independent Agency Group. There he focused on the insurance needs of commercial clients.
A specialist in the Hospitality Industry, Kevin continues to develop programs enhancing benefits for members of various associations. Other areas of focus include construction, transportation, manufacturing and bonding.
First experiencing the Western Slope in 1994, he made Grand Junction his home in 2015 where he enjoys fishing, hiking, high school sports and travel with his two sons.

Andrew Smith - Director
Andrew was raised in Colorado Springs after early years in Utah and Kansas. He graduated from William Mitchell High School and attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he played outside linebacker on the WAC Champion football team and embraced the Academy’s core values of integrity, service, and excellence. He later served a two-year Spanish-speaking mission in Ontario, Canada.
Upon his return to the United States, Andrew resumed his studies and graduated with a degree in Business Management from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While still in school, Andrew worked as a mortgage broker and followed his entrepreneurial spirit by starting a car sales business with his brother. Once Andrew completed his under-graduate education and worked for a short time, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer.
A father of four, Andrew is active in his church and passionate about learning—especially history, politics, finance, science, and health. He enjoys hiking, camping, and skiing, and chose to make the Grand Valley his home to be near family and the Colorado lifestyle.
He has served on the Community Hospital Foundation Board (2015–2020), the United Way of Mesa County Board, and is a 2016 graduate of the Mesa County Leadership Program.
